Conveniently located and directly connected to the renowned Mall of Qatar, AlRayyan Hotel Doha, Curio Collection by Hilton, makes for a great weekend destination. With a wide range of dining and leisure activities, it’s surely worth a visit.
Having been to the hotel several times to enjoy their dining events, we were excited to be invited to try their newly introduced ‘Ocean Brunch’. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the friendly and accommodating staff, who showed us to the brunch area. Although Mezzo restaurant hosts the brunch, it was set up near the poolside, creating a relaxed vibrant dining atmosphere.
The brunch was amusingly simple – from the name itself, ‘Ocean Brunch’, guests are treated to an oceanic culinary experience full of seafood options from appetisers, cold selections, and a grilled and baked seafood selection. The brunch has a buffet spread that features selections from appetisers to desserts. Aside from the buffet, they have a made-to-order menu.
For the appetisers, there was a generous selection to indulge in. We were delighted to find dishes like baby octopus, crab legs, Mediterranean shrimp, and tuna salads, along with a variety of dips such as hummus and other tempting options. The condiments and sides were thoughtfully provided to enhance each bite, setting the tone for the rest of the meal. Our personal favourites were the tender baby octopus and the flavourful tuna Niçoise salad, which we couldn’t resist going back for before moving on to the main dishes from the made-to-order menu.
Alongside the starters, the buffet also featured a selection of hot dishes. The mashed potatoes and perfectly steamed vegetables were simple yet delicious, making them ideal for pairing with the rest of the spread.
Shortly after enjoying the buffet, the main dishes arrived at our table. We opted for the Maki Bento, Grilled Salmon with Lemon Butter Sauce, and Baked Sand Lobster with Chilli Garlic Butter. Each dish was satisfyingly packed with flavours.
The Maki Bento had a great balance of taste and texture, while the Grilled Salmon was perfectly cooked, with the lemon butter sauce adding just the right touch. The standout for us was the Baked Sand Lobster – the chilli garlic butter enhanced the natural sweetness of the lobster, making every bite a real treat.
After indulging in a culinary feast of oceanic flavours, we couldn’t resist finishing on a sweet note. The dessert spread offered plenty of tempting options, but the real stars were the salted caramel cheesecake and key lime pie – both absolutely irresistible.
