Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) has started its annual Ramadan Sports Festival this week and which will be held until 17 May. The festival features a variety of events and tournaments focused on giving participants the opportunity to improve their overall health.
Walking is one type of exercise that is often overlooked but whose benefits are wide-ranging. It is a low-impact exercise accessible for people regardless of fitness level, does not require additional equipment and can be practiced across many different venues and terrains. Doctors recommend walking at least 10,000 steps a day to avoid many chronic diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, and obesity.
This Ramadan, Aspire Dome is organising walking sessions before Iftar from 3 pm to 5 pm, led by Aspire Zone trainers. There will be two sessions each day, lasting 45 minutes each, with the first session starting at 3:15 pm. Walking enthusiasts will be able to burn around 200-250 calories and an estimated 840 steps per round. Participants are encouraged to complete six rounds, equivalent to 5,000 steps. If you’re interested to join the walk, you can enter through the Aspire Dome back entrance facing the Hamad Aquatic Centre.
This year’s Ramadan Sports Festival is sponsored by Saleh Al Hamad Al Mana Co, Aseel Water and EsQalar Sports. For updates and more information, visit aspirezone.qa.
