Black Beauty is an upcoming Disney+ original movie, written and directed by Ashley Avis, based on the 1877 novel of the same name by Anna Sewell. Set to be released on 27 November, the narrative film features a timeless tale of a teenager and the singular bond she forms with a horse that keeps them connected for a lifetime. The 1876 novel was pivotal for a dawning appreciation of the plight of workhorses in Victorian England, and the desire to treat animals more humanely. Indeed, the book is narrated from the vantage of the horse (a mare instead of a stallion), with the film featuring the voice of award-winning actress Kate Winslet. It also appears to feature a modern American setting, but with a promising cast that in addition to Winslet includes up-and-comer Mackenzie Foy as heroine Jo Green and Game of Thrones’ Iain Glen as John Manly.
SETTLE IN WITH A CUP OF TEA AND READ THIS:
Ed Caesar delivers an evocative portrait of the life and times of British adventurer Maurice Wilson, who captivated the public’s attention with his doomed attempt to climb Mount Everest in 1934. The Moth and the Mountain is the tale of a little-known World War I veteran who decides to fly a plan from England to Everest, crash-land on its lower slopes and become the first person to reach its summit. This is a gripping story about the power of the human spirit in the face of adversity.
The book is available on Amazon in kindle, hardcover, audio CD and audiobook versions.
CRANK UP THE VOLUME FOR THIS:
Miley Cyrus fans, rejoice! American pop star Miley’s seventh studio album, Plastic Hearts, is set to be released on 27 November through RCA Records. The album will feature several collaborations with many legendary artists including Dua Lipa, Billy Idol and Joan Jett. The album was originally set to be released under She Is Miley Cyrus in 2019; however, Cyrus’ divorce from Liam Hemsworth, vocal cord surgery and the COVID-19 pandemic posed significant delay.
