You don’t need to travel all the way to Hawaii to enjoy the best of island life – Trader Vic’s at the Hilton Doha brings the Luau experience to you! Since 2012, this Polynesian-themed restaurant has been transporting guests to a tropical paradise with its delicious food, exotic drinks, and stunning bay views.
Our invitation to Trader Vic’s Friday Luau Brunch promised a taste of tropical paradise. Luaus are known for their festive atmosphere, combining delicious food, captivating music, and dancing.
Gorgeous light fixtures illuminate the vibrant rattan furniture, while intricate Polynesian carvings on the tables add an authentic touch. The captivating melodies of a live band set the stage for a memorable luau experience.
The seated brunch allows diners to sample some of the restaurant’s most popular creations. With mango and guava tais in hand, we eagerly awaited our starters, which arrived moments later. Excellent!
A gentle warning: the starters at Trader Vic’s are incredibly tempting! Pace yourselves, as there’s much more to come. Here’s a taste of what we enjoyed: Trader Vic’s Salad – a refreshing mix of greens, palm hearts, artichokes, and Javanese dressing. Pe’a & Hala Kahiki Salad – lettuce, pears, pineapple, pomegranate seeds, walnuts, crunchy quinoa, and blue cheese dressing. Gratin ‘Tom Yum’ Bienville – a cheesy seafood gratin with Tom Yum flavours, bonito flakes, black tobiko, and tortilla chips. Trio Maki Roll – Yasai, tempura prawn, and salmon. Beef XLB – steamed beef dumplings with spicy soy chilli dip. And Hanguk Chicken Munchies – fried chicken with Gochujang mayo and mango pico de gallo (our favourite!)
A brief intermission to appreciate the lively ambience, and then – the main event! At Trader Vic’s brunch, the dilemma of choosing disappears as you get to savour every signature dish. From the delicate Sakyo Barramundi to the fiery Black Pepper Chicken, our taste buds were on a whirlwind tour. The fragrant Green Curry Prawn, the tender Teriyaki Beef Tenderloin, and the Vegetables Mamak Mee (weekend brunch calories don’t count, right?) were pure indulgence.
Talking of indulgence, the desserts are a revelation. Wait until you taste the creamy coconut flan paired with white chocolate namelaka, light and fragrant pandan cake topped with golden caramelised pineapple and decadent cheese frosting, vanilla ice cream, and a tropical fruit platter. These sweet treats are the perfect ending to a perfect island brunch – don’t leave without trying them!
Get ready to immerse yourself in the world of Polynesian food, drinks, and festive atmosphere.
