Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), in cooperation with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), recently organised an intensive training programme to help prepare dentists from HMC and the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) take the entrance examination for membership of the college’s Faculty of Dentistry (MFD).
Twenty Qatari dentists from HMC and PHCC participated in the preparatory training programme, held from 6 – 10 May at the HMC Medical Education Centre.
This is the third consecutive year that HMC has organised the training programme. The programme is part of an agreement between HMC and RCSI and was developed to provide specialised dentistry training to Qataris interested in furthering their education and advancing their dental qualifications.
Dr Khalifa Al Ansari, Senior Consultant and Vice Chairman of Hamad Dental Centre said that the five-day intensive training programme is designed to help the clinicians refine their knowledge in all aspects of the dentistry profession. The dentists who have been enrolled in this programme for the past two years have achieved a high level of success in their MFD examinations. Some have already joined the specialised Paediatric Dentistry Fellowship Programme offered in cooperation with the RCSI.
Dr Asmaa Othman Al Khtib, Manager of Dental and Oral Health Operations and Support at the PHCC said that the collaborative effort by stakeholders in the dental profession is key to ensuring that their teams are able to deliver international best practice in oral healthcare services locally.
The intensive training programme will be held again next year from 28 April to 2 May, 2019, offering participants the opportunity to prepare for the MFD entrance examination.
The internationally-accredited RCSI MFD post-graduate dental education programme supports Qatar’s National Oral Health Strategy. Hamad Dental Centre strives to provide comprehensive, globally accepted, best practice care, founded on its holistic perspective of delivering safe, quality services and proven treatments for all patients.
