Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX) welcomed a procession of ships from Bangladesh, India, Italy, Oman, Pakistan, the United Kingdom and the United States.
The ships docked at Hamad Port, one of the largest ports in the Middle East, enabling a selection of the world’s largest seafaring ships to harbour at its state-of-the-art facilities. DIMDEX has now received more than 80 warships since its first edition in 2008.

The arrival of the warships is one of the key elements of the three-day maritime defence event, as navies from around the world get to display their latest vessels and showcase their capabilities in protecting trading routes, borders and shorelines. This year, DIMDEX and Hamad Port welcomed international vessels and provided exhibitors and visitors with the opportunity to explore modern naval warships.
DIMDEX Chairman Staff Brigadier (Sea) Abdulbaqi S Al-Ansari said that the arrival of the Visiting Warships is a clear indication of the tight relations between Qatar and these countries who took the effort to send their warships from across the world.
This year’s arrival is particularly poignant with ships docking at Hamad Port for the first time. As we look ahead to the rest of the exhibition, we look forward to presenting participants ‘A World-Class Platform for Technology, Maritime and Defence Industry Capabilities’. DIMDEX strengthens Doha’s position as a burgeoning business hub, offering global vendors, visitors and guests valuable commercial opportunities to lucrative markets.’
The DIMDEX 2018 exhibition is at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC), while the warships are all lined up at Hamad Port.
DIMDEX acts as a pivotal platform for exhibitors to access key decision makers represented by VIP delegates, highlighted by the US $31.95 billion of deals completed throughout five previous editions. DIMDEX 2018 welcomes 180 exhibitors from more than 60 countries across the local and international maritime and military industries.
