Abdul Rahman bin Muhammad Al-Khayarin, CEO of Widam Food Company, revealed that the company has started providing a service of selling and slaughtering sacrifices to citizens within the initiative of supported sheep of Arab origin for this year.
Those wishing to benefit from the price-subsidised sacrifice initiative recently launched by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, and which Widam Company began implementing as of last Saturday.
Al-Khayarin confirmed in a special statement to Al-Raya Al-Eqtisadiah that the company is working to reduce the burden on citizens in fulfilling their obligations to offer sacrifices during the blessed Eid, and is also keen to provide comfort to the public who wish to benefit from this initiative within the conditions specified during this period, as well as Its significant contribution to the provision of red meat in the local market to meet the needs of all consumers, pointing out in this context to the great role of the initiative in controlling prices, creating a balance in the prices of live Arab sheep in the market, and working to not increase their prices in such seasons that witness There is a great demand by citizens to buy red meat.
In a related context, the CEO of the company said that the volume of sales of the sacrifice initiative, subsidised by prices, exceeded 1,000 sheep during the past two days, in reference to the increasing demand witnessed by the company’s slaughterhouses dedicated to this initiative by citizens, noting that the Ministry of Economy and Trade agreed with the company to: Importing approximately 12,500 heads of live sheep of Arab origin, which are in high demand by citizens, especially during the blessed Eid al-Adha, to be sold at subsidised and reduced prices to citizens through direct sales through separate coupons through Widam’s slaughterhouses, at a number of (1) A head of sheep for each citizen, provided that the original ID card is presented, at a price of 1100 riyals for a Syrian sheep.
